Privacy Policy — Bayan al-Quran

Bayan al-Quran is an app for reading, listening to, understanding and memorising the Quran. We respect your privacy; this policy explains what is stored and where.

1. No accounts, no ads, no tracking

The app needs no account, shows no ads, and uses no advertising trackers or identifying analytics. The only thing we count is anonymous daily tallies (app opens, installed vs. browser, interface language) with no device identifier, IP address or cookies, so they cannot be linked to you.

2. Data stored on your device

Bookmarks, reading position, khatma plan, memorisation records and settings are stored only on your device. You can export or delete them at any time (More → Backup).

3. Optional sync and groups

If you create a sync code or join a khatma group, only the data required for that feature (the name you type, reading/memorisation progress, and settings when syncing) is stored on the Cloudflare infrastructure that runs the app, keyed by the code rather than your identity. Anyone holding the code can access that data, so keep it private. Leaving a group or unlinking a device stops syncing, and you can request deletion of the data behind a code.

4. Microphone and speech recognition

The microphone is used only when you choose voice recitation in memorisation. Your voice is never recorded or stored. Speech is recognised either by your device's built-in service (Apple or Google) under their privacy policies, or by the accurate mode running on the Cloudflare infrastructure that hosts the app, where short audio snippets are transcribed on the fly and discarded, never stored. We keep only the list of missed words, on your device, to help you review.

5. Notifications (optional)

If you enable the daily reminder, verse of the day or group alerts, the push subscription address issued by your browser or OS, your time zone, the reminder time and the group codes you chose to follow are stored on Cloudflare — nothing else: no name, email or location. Turning notifications off in Settings deletes that subscription.

6. Location

Prayer times default to Doha. If you choose “use my location”, the approximate location is stored on your device only and never sent to a server.

7. Network

Recitations and some tafsirs are fetched on demand from their sources (everyayah.com, mp3quran.net, jsDelivr) and cached for offline use. These requests carry no personal data.

8. Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal data from children.
